It’s late July (already!?!?) – the height of summer here in northern Georgia. And yet, for many of us, our thoughts are already turning toward the first vestiges of autumn. No, the leaves are not about to start turning. Neither is this the first weekend of high school or college football.
What is imminently just around the corner, however, is the start of school for our kids, K through 12th grade. Here in Cobb County the first day of in-person classes are on Monday, August 1st, a mere 9 days away. The first day in Fulton County is a week later: Monday, August 8th. Practically every other county in central and northern Georgia open their schools somewhere between these two dates.
The beginning of the 2022-2023 school year also marks the 2nd year in a row we will have a “normal” start to the school year. Something we used to take for granted, but of course since the year of COVID we realize is something we should be very thankful for being so typically routine.
