We just had our first little cold spell of the middle of autumn here in northern Georgia – the leaves are turning, and you can feel a crispness in the air for the first time since early this year. If you haven’t started to put your landscaping or stone project plans in motion and have decided to put them off until next year, that is ok.
But if you think it is too early to start planning for next year’s outdoor projects, think again. Now is an excellent time to take a look around your property and start to bounce around ideas on options for improving the look, the feel… transforming it more into the uniquely beautiful property you envisioned when you first bought it.
One of the good things about late fall and winter is that it shows you what your landscape looks like when all of your trees and plants are dormant. All of your property’s blemishes and eyesores are exposed. This unveiling allows you to incorporate their development as an integral piece of your project. If you can be honest with yourself about what looks the worst about your property, you will set yourself up for being able to make the biggest improvements.

The biggest advantage to starting now is that you have a period of 3 to 4 months of planning before you have to start putting your ideas into motion, without feeling the pressure of getting everything (the materials, the tools, maybe a contractor) together under a deadline. Here are some plans you can start to put in place over the next few months that will make your project next spring or summer go smoother.
In our next article we will share some specific ideas on how to start formulating your projects from scratch.
At Stone Distributors we really enjoy helping you with your projects. Whether that means in just one part of it when you are buying the materials, or every step of the way. Come on into our conveniently located yard this week (we are open every Monday through Saturday) and talk with us about your ideas and plans, whether for a garden, fireplace, water feature, patio, walkway, or any other stone or landscaping project you have in mind. We always welcome you to share or get some ideas while checking out our abundant variety of stone and other landscaping materials we have in stock.
