In this week’s edition of Stone Distributor’s Fresh Off The Truck we are thankful that a few shipments were able to make the trip to our yard. Let’s take a peek at the beautiful stone that arrived here in Wednesday’s and Thursday’s shipments:
On Wednesday, March 17th (a rainy St. Patrick’s Day, but spirits were still high), we received a full shipment of Canyon Creek Flagstone from Oklahoma – both the Blue/Gray and Dark/Buff/Tan varieties!
And on Thursday the 18th (a lovely sunny day) we received a shipment of Wall Boulders and Fieldstone Steppers:
Why are these shipments As we discussed in a special article earlier this week, all stone wholesalers and retailers like ourselves throughout the southeastern United States are suddenly faced with a serious supply chain issue.
Shipping prices have skyrocketed within the last 2 months, resulting in our costs spiking and shipments not being delivered. This is affecting our entire industry, not just us. As happy as we are that we received two shipments this week, the fact is that we have more than 20 still on order, and the estimated time of arrival for most of them is still very much up in the air.
As illustrated by the arrival of these two shipments this week, we will do our best to continue to keep the flow of stone and materials going at as close to the usual rate as possible. We hope that the effect on our inventory is barely if at all noticeable to you.
The one thing you will notice is that we had to remove the 2021 price lists from our website. We are sorry that we can not be as transparent as we normally are, but right now our costs are fluctuating literally from shipment to shipment. We are having to adjust our prices accordingly. As soon as disruptive period ends we will re-publish our price lists on our website.
