End-of-year follow up to our sponsorship of the Acworth Warriors youth football program

The 2020 Acworth Warriors Under 12 youth football team

The 2020 football campaign has come to its official close. No, we are not referring to the NFL or, heaven forbid, the SEC or ACC. We are talking about the local U-12 youth football programs. Specifically, the Acworth Warriors youth football program.

As you may recall, we discussed the importance of sponsoring/supporting local not-for-profit organizations such as the Acworth Warriors and other entities dedicated to growth and betterment of the lives of our children in an article back in September. Particularly now, during this continuing time of COVID.

As we said then, “We believe, as so many of you do as well, that now it is more important than ever to support our local businesses and communities. The recent lock downs, “Shelter in Place” orders and numerous other restrictions have disproportionately damaged local businesses, restaurants, the hospitality industry and non-profit organizations. The truth is that some have gone out of business for good, never to return.

The people that own and work in these establishments are an integral part of the life blood of each and every community in which we live, work and play. They need our help – the support of each and every one of us who lives here – now more than ever before.”

This will always hold true. And beyond that we received something more out of our connection with this integral non-profit that we did not mention in that initial article – something very positive we believe many of you will experience when you reach out and support important organizations that are trying to make a positive difference in the world.

What was it? The sense that we were contributing substantially to the betterment of the community in which we live, work and play. And that sense helps us to feel more positive about the world. A feeling that has been in short supply for almost all of us this year.

Yes, this may sound corny to some – but never more than right now has doing something substantial to help others, even in some small way, been more important to our own well-being. The truth is that when you do something substantial to support other people you really do receive a benefit also. Supporting the local organizations that make up your local community is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

So, by all accounts, this was another successful year for the Acworth Warriors, even with the reduced schedules and number of participants. They accomplished their mission, as stated on their website at http://www.acworthwarriors.com:

“The Acworth Football and Cheerleading Association, Inc. (AFCA) is a 501(c)(3) All volunteer organization that develops the next generation of leaders in our community by providing competitive and instructional football and cheerleading opportunities for children between the ages of three and twelve.”

We thank everyone who was involved and look forward to continuing our sponsorship of this important organization in 2021!
