Ahhhhh… the “dog days” of summer. Around here in northern Georgia that usually means long, hot, humid days, late summer vacations and getting ready for the all-important football season starting imminently. Oh, wait.
Thanks to Coronavirus it is baseball that is starting imminently (tonight, in fact) while the football seasons, particularly high school and college. Feeling a bit confused and out-of-sorts by all this? We promise you that you are not the only one.
Here at Stone Distributors we are finally starting to see some normalcy return. We are happy to say that shipments of the stones and materials that you all need seem to be arriving in a more timely fashion. In fact, we are almost all caught up, particularly on product coming in from our Tennessee quarries. We have already placed more orders and those shipments have already started to arrive.
As we discussed in our last article, the supply chain interruptions caused by a combination of COVID-19 and the late winter/early spring weather put a significant stress on our business. In response our owner proactively made a recent trip to Tennessee to expand our relationships with the quarries that supply stone to us. During that trip he successfully entered into supply agreements with several new quarries there.
The results of these new agreements have already started to pay dividends. The constant constraint of being back ordered on the products in highest demand, so prevalent since April, has been significantly reduced. We are happy to state that we believe the supply/inventory issue will continue to disappear going forward.
Meanwhile, we have received reports from a significant number of you that many of our local competitors have raised their prices significantly in recent days. We understand completely how raising prices in this current economic climate just adds to the stress that almost all of you are feeling every day. You find yourself asking: “is there no end to the piling on?”
We hear you! As a result, we are making a pledge to you right here, right now: we will NOT be raising our prices on any of our most popular products through the end of 2020. The prices you see right now on our price list are the EXACT PRICE you will pay on anything you order for the remainder of this year. Period. End of story. Holding the line on prices to you is one way we at Stone Distributors are able to show our heart-felt appreciation for supporting us throughout this year of pandemic-related issues.
(The ONE AND ONLY event that will cause us to increase a price will be if we get an unexpected raise in price from one of our suppliers – and it will only effect the price of the specific products that have been raised to us. That is our pledge to you.)
